I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions – mostly because I don’t like to set myself up to fail.
I try to be as realistic as possible. I know I won’t diet because I don’t believe in dieting. I’m wearing maternity clothes now anyway… 🙂 And I won’t exercise regularly because I’m not ready yet.
People only really making lasting change in their lives when they hit a point of pain or aggravation – when their current situation hurts too much to continue. That’s when the true change happens.
Here are some changes I’m in the process of making:
- Eat more greens – I need the nutrients and don’t want to rely on pills and meat. Thus, the kale smoothies. Banana, orange juice, and kale – you can’t even taste the kale! Super yummy and a great way to get my greens.
- Do dishes right away – I’ve decided that I really hate waking up to a sink full of dishes; so, I try to wash the dishes right after I use them. I’ve been doing it for the last couple of weeks and love the results. Hopefully I’ll keep doing it.
- Neaten up before bed – I like when the dining room table is clear of clutter and Zoe’s toys are picked up. At night, I’ve been spending a few minutes picking up. It’s nice having all this energy… here’s to hoping the third trimester will be the same!
- No bags or wallets – the Frugal Friday series really helped me take a look at my money habits. I bought a few too many gifts for myself this past holiday season, I must admit; then, made a vow to my husband that I wouldn’t buy any bags or wallets for myself this year. I want to add clothes and shoes to the mix, but that just sounds depressing. I know I can do it, yet it’s scary. I still find way too much joy in buying stuff.
Well, there you have it, folks. Realistic. Specific. Manageable.
What are some changes you are making?
